Walked home in a thunderstorm. CrackBAM. I love thunderstorms.

Also, feeling somewhat pathetic – I have to look up Detroit on Wikipedia, because I have a character from there (based on a real person with her photo in the newspaper) and I have no idea what it's like. *will be more worldly eventually*

...Has anyone been to Detroit, perchance? Because I'd like a more atmospheric description than what you can get from Wikipedia...

Hey, someone I don't personally know actually joined [info]aaronburr!

[info]aisb23. Interesting. I hope he posts something, because that is one sad lack-of-community I have going on over there.

You know what's really good? Bubbletea. I got some today that was supposed to be coconut-flavored, but that was fully not coconut I was tasting. It was something fragrant and non-coconutty. But it was good anyway. That's how good the stuff is.

I will now write something, I swear. I'm having problems with my not!African revolution story because I really don't know anything about Africa, and even though the location of my story is an imaginary country that just happens to be very similar to those in North Africa, I feel kind of guilty writing about it. But then again, it's not like the people who write fantasy set in some obscure medieval British/Scandinavian location really know much about medieval Britain/Scandinavia, either... I think?

Some completely unnecessary "historical" fiction involving Theodosia Burr and Meriwether Lewis. Written in math a while ago and kind of unfinished... I could take it a lot further, but its unnecessariness discourages me. I wanted to see what would happen if they met, so I sent her and her husband to St. Louis (which doesn't make sense at all, because he was a planter and really had no interest in the fur trade), right after the Burr Conspiracy, when people were apparently accusing Governor Lewis of being a mini-Burr because of his interest in the West. Aww, Lewis, I love you! <3

They are complete soulmates, though, disregarding the fact that she's slightly smarter than him. :P Poor Alston. And... I forget what else needs explanation, besides my state of mind, which is EXCELLENT, I tell you, EXCELLENT!

Theo is starved for information and Lewis is slightly straight )

[info]karla_yonit's drabble request gave me the necessary kick to write this non-drabble that's been bouncing around in my head forever... it's Brutus/Cassius, based on the fact that Brutus does this kind of self-punishing sleep-deprivation thing throughout the play. It's the night when Caesar's ghost shows up – notice that before the part with the ghost, Brutus just plans to read while his servants and everyone else go to sleep. Poor Brutus. :( So we get an unusually sweet (protective?) Cassius, and nervous not-quite-fluff. Pretty much unedited, please point out any weird phrasing or whatever.

I have also decided that in any fic involving Cassius, the word "lean" must be used at least once. It is the law.

Title from the play involving that other murderous insomniac. :)

Because I'm the laziest overachiever ever and need a reason to procrastinate.

Every person on your friends list gets to request a drabble (read drabble: 100 words exactly) from you. In return, they have to post this in their journal and write a drabble for you. Post all fandoms you're willing to write for. Your friends can pick a relationship, a story arc, a missing scene, or pretty much anything they want, unless the author has previously mentioned that they will not write it. They comment with what they want, and you write drabbles and post it in your journal.

Hmm, fandoms. I think you all know my fandoms. Pretty much Shakespeare, any period movie ever, any history pre-20th-century, LOTR, maybe Firefly? i've been wanting to write something about it... and anything else you want, if I know it.

Okay, so this one deserves some explanation. It sprung from my inaccurate memory of something Clark wrote – I thought he said he liked the taste of the water of the Missouri River more than the Mississippi, when they were staying in St. Louis before the expedition, and that reminded me of a bio paper my friend (hi, Becca) wrote about taste, and how some people are "supertasters" and some are "non-tasters". And preferring the taste of a certain kind of water (not necessarily just being able to taste the difference between different kinds, but actually preferring one to another? I think?) is a supertastery thing to do. So I thought it would be really amusing if Clark was a supertaster and Lewis was a non-taster.

In actuality, of course (head, meet desk), the line is "I send to the Missouries water for drinking water, it being much Cooler than the Mississippi." I relocated the line after having written half the fic and was like, um, not getting rid of this. So the premise is now officially Made Up.

But still. It's kind of absurd, to counterbalance that last angsty one. :) It's also Clark POV.

Historical-Inaccuracies Disclaimer: There were a lot of details I wasn't sure of, like exactly what their sleeping arrangements actually were, so This Is Not History. The author is not responsible for any embarrassment or gory fatal injury that may occur if you take it as such.

....oh yeah, and they probably weren't gay, either. :D

Clark can't spell 'mosquitoes', and Nature is a slasher )

EDIT: Found some evidence! Okay, so the expeditions bought all these dogs, to eat, from the Indians on October 14, 1805. And Clark wrote:
All the Party have greatly the advantage of me in as much as they all relish the flesh of the dogs.
So everyone else loved the dog meat (eeeuuwww. they were also fond of beaver tail), and Clark refused to eat it. Supertaster-esque, no? Plus, he's always describing the way things tasted, whereas Lewis doesn't really mention that very often.

PS – [info]merry_lewis and [info]capt_clark. OMGWTF. I don't know who these people are, and they're not even attached to an RPG or anything. hahahaha. ♥

Lewis/Clark drabble, featuring Clark's future wife (and, um, cousin). Lewis POV. Very angsty. (And from such a fluff couple!)

Clark's straight. :(  )

Was very painful to get this down to 100 words. I'll have to write something happy for them now. Depressed!Lewis has all my posthumous love. :/

Continued from this entry. Theodosia Burr and Joseph Alston take a walk, get their feet dirty, and discuss Theodosia's ambitions (that is, that she will probably not be president, but would be a better one than John Adams. Poor Adams. He's obnoxious and disliked).

This might be less-than-productive, but it's not actually fanfic! :P

The legendary mustaches of the gentlemen of South Carolina )

I need to include Lewis and Clark in this somehow. Or maybe they'll get their own fic! :D

Side note: Joseph Alston is becoming weirdly similar to Quentin H. Radmore III, only Southern, heterosexual, and slightly less crazy.

Other side note: Isn't Theo unconventionally pretty? Picture, other picture, other other picture, and my icon. <3

Historical HET?? Hell just froze over!

'Tis Theodosia Burr and her lovely South Carolinian Joseph Alston, about whom the internets know NOTHING. Seriously, there is no information about him. Which gives me complete artistic license. :) Wrote this to get myself out of an extreme state of writer's block, and because Theo is fangirl-worthy. It was a lot of fun.

(So this is the year 1800, right after that hyper-nasty election where Hamilton used his influence to swing the House against Burr. Who, by the way, wanted Theodosia to eventually be president or something, and marrying some random rice planter would probably not help her.)

In which there is ye olde UST, more than passing mention of Alexander Hamilton, and observant!Aaron Burr )

So yeah. Maybe we should file this under "Things That Should Never Have Seen the Light of Day". XD

Sort-of for [info]karla_yonit's recent writing challenge, which was to write about one or several characters being in the Olympics. Well, this is Lewis-n-Clark, and Sacagawea. And they're not in the Olympics, technically, but they're... watching... the women's figure skating....... yeah. O____o

In which Meriwether Lewis likes the Russian, there are References to Shakespeare, Anachronisms Abound, and Explorer-Slash is Oh So Canon )

Yeah, so that was the crackiest thing I've written in... like, ever. And it was so much fun. And that's not even my real response to the challenge, which will be coming soon and is a SEEKRIT! (shh, Becca!)

Happy Hanukkah, [info]bewareofitalics!
Yay, Sebastian/Antonio fic! Antonio remembers their days on the ship and decides to return to Illyria, because he's just that stubborn. I absolutely love these two.

This is probably very unedited, considering I just wrote it in a couple-hour marathon and only did cursory editing. :P But I wanted to get it up here while it was still technically Hanukkah.

This could be a prequel to [info]bewareofitalics's Olivia/Viola/Orsino fic, which is not currently available to the public, I think, but... it's not entirely a sad ending for Olivia here, let's just say. :P

And of course, the title is...

Happy Hanukkah, [info]karla_yonit!
Voici Brutus/Cassius. It is... twisty and odd; I hope I did a good job with what I was trying to convey... anyway. Definitely not fluff. The title is from that line of Cassius's: "For who so firm that cannot be seduced?" ("Cassius's" or "Cassius'"? The eternal question.)

...mmm, Cassius. >__<

Concrit is wonderful, excellent, fantastic, and many other synonyms for "good".

I'm seeing a production of Twelfth Night tonight, so Sebastian/Antonio will probably be next, followed by the sort-of-unspecified slashy LOTR fic for Jess. :) (Last chance to say for sure what you want!)

So here's your Carton/Darnay. :D

This was SO WEIRD to write, because a) I hate Dickens, and b) I don't believe in this pairing. And I kept having them speak Shakespeare-ese instead of Victorian-Formal-ese a la Dickens.

And allow me the blatant innuendo scattered throughout...

...and I don't know where Wordplay!Sydney Carton came from. Probably Shakespeare again; he's sort of Mercutio-ish here, except with TEH DEPRESSION.

Concrit is welcome and appreciated.
